Analysis and Criticism

Will be who can stay indifferent to the strength of these pictorial language? To the sensuality of these obsessive forms filling up spaces to invade our eyes with the violence of the light and the joy of the pigments?

Without doubt determined and radical, Mofeliaf´s art is a standard of liberty, the translation to the one of nature´s power and the discourse wich flows between the most irreverent indications of consensual rules of making a painting.

By default with the rules that propitiate the utilization of perspectives and plans, different divisions for backgrounds and subjects, combinations and conjugations between fundamental and complementary colours, these author open a way to a surprising originality in all refractory to usual precepts of easel painting.

Giving preference, in these phase, to still-lifes, Mofeliaf continues imprinting in her work a vibrant colour in all evoking the tropical Africa wich evolved her emotions and sentiments.

Edgardo Xavier (Art critic)

At the first look I was surprised with so much colour, audacity in drawing and composition. For Mofeliaf round things, cylinders, square forms, everything has “oval”shadows! And if the “oval”world was not enough, she even cuts purposely some objects by the middle!

However, at the second look, I´d love Mofeliaf´s work, but the painter, in her modesty,  doesn´t accept that she had revolutionized the interpretation and making of still-lifes. Much obliged for the privilege

David Tagwel(Painter, sculptor)

I know Mofeliaf for some years now. Her paintings are identical to her way of life: happy, bright, spontaneous, creative, free and easy and with the same easiness wich I notice on the way Mofeliaf “regulates” her shadows and oval forms. Mofeliaf is a painter with capital letters and her work is a delight for our souls

Helen Wildboer (Painter)

Mofeliaf, like Morandi makes still-lifes as whom engrave soul´s discourses; like the ingenous has determination and immediacy; like someone up to date, privileges modernity, strength and sensuality. Everything in a state of purity, or perhaps, without restrictions to preconceptions, as somebody cultivating affection and liberty, Mofeliaf is realy a painter!

Edgardo Xavier (Art critic)

My Dear Africa! It´s the way I will translate the result of these rich mixture of beautiful happy colours, wich are the soul and the feeling from whom has at heart the gift and the way to paint so well

Monica Alves

Mofeliaf plays with beautiful chromatic mix but,  exists something paradoxical between the colours wich gives more beauty to the all formal group, nevertheless and maybe because of it, the painter has good taste and is successful avoiding the banal.

S. Sena

Mofeliaf, your beautiful soul full of love´s life and replete of light and happiness, gives to us a kind of painting wich appeals for Peace but without Inertia.

A.Anjos dos Santos

Mofeliaf, your paintings are of extreme beauty in colouring and with a delicate treatment. The worm african mood put us like admiring a sunset in Africa, , ,

They are still-lifes…alive!

Deolinda Amaral

I did like especially the “play with colours”wich are very expressive. Though the paintings are still-lifes it is something on them kind of soul… I especially did like the turnips, so naturally put in between so many gorgeous colours. Also appreciated the “arrangement”of colours made in order to obtain perspectives.

Sara de Sousa

Mofeliaf is a painter wich really fascinates me. Never before an artist attracted so much my attencion for their paintings as have done these Grate Dame.

Paula Cavaco

The colouring represents life and happiness and I believe these are your objectives in your work. No doubt your aims were fully accomplished. Each canvas is a solved problem and a hymn to the art of Mofeliaf´s painterly

Amélia Simões
